Question 1
Question 1 required the candidates to recall certain facts and practical experience.
Observation
Majority of the students that attempted this question were able to supply the correct answers.
Question 2
Question 2 required candidates to define some concepts.
Observation
Candidates who attempted this question were able to give the correct definitions of concept.
Question 3
Question 3 required candidates to state the functions of major components and also sketch the components.
Observation
The candidates who attempted this question were able to sketch correctly and label their parts accordingly.
Question 4
Question 4 required the candidates to express their understanding of the airconditioning and refrigeration workshop and the job carried out in the workshop.
Observation
The candidates who attempted this question expressed an understanding of what goes on in the workshop.
Question 5
Question 5 tested the entrepreneur skills of the candidates.
Observation
Students who attempted this question were able to state the functions and explain clearly the terms used.
General Comments
The performance of the candidates was adjudged to be of the required standard as the questions and answers by the candidates measured the expected learning outcomes. The candidates performed better this year compared to the previous year. The highest score for Paper 2 was 49/60 and the lowest score was 16/60 which is also higher than that of the previous year.
The candidates responded well to each of all the questions as all the questions were attempted by the various candidates.
Weakness and Remedies
The major weakness of the candidates was in grammatical expressions of the
functions and advantages of the components of airconditioning and refrigeration  systems. The students found it difficult to state the correct terminologies used for the explanation of the components of the system.
SUGGESTED REMEDIES FOR OVERCOMING WEAKNESSES
The candidates should be encouraged to read recent and available textbooks on airconditioning and refrigeration so as to be able to understand the correct names and terminologies used in the trade
Candidates’ Strength
Candidates who attempted the only question that required diagram were able to sketch     correctly the component and correctly label. The candidates were also able to recall the definitions of terms
